As we announced in two prior posts, Shoe Palace will be opening its new Melrose store to much fanfare with the release of 9 retro Air Jordans as well as the new Adidas Yeezy 350 Boost Lows. While this might sound like a great event with many people going home with great shoes, we might be looking at a defining moment in sneakers and culture.
For the first time ever, consumers will have to make the choice of a pair of retro Jordans or the Adidas Yeezy 350 Boost. With separate lineups for each and a one pair per person limit, it is an either/or deal.
Jordan continues to dominate as the brand celebrates 30 years of heritage in 2015, but adidas is on the up and up as well with rising momentum thanks to moves made in the Adidas Originals division with a number of cultural icons including Kanye West.
Can Yeezy jump over the Jumpman?A lineup for Jordan retros will form on one side of the new Melrose store on a red carpet, and Yeezy fans will lineup on a blue carpet for the Yeezy 350 Boost Low.
Nice Kicks will be on hand in LA to observe and document what is happening with the lineup and why people are choosing one or the other and why.
Doors open up for the new Shoe Palace Melrose store at 9:30AM on Saturday, June 27th.
