The first round of votes are in and three finalists have been selected as contenders for the 2015 #CSSMVP.
Leading the way is Wale, the 2013 and 2014 #CSSMVP winner. Dropping The Album About Nothing and signing a partnership with VILLA, Folarin has had a big year in business and once again proved to be the go-to guy to pull out forgotten favorites.
Representing for the Second Team is Mark Wahlberg. Earning his second #CSSMVP nomination, the Entourage producer won said honors last year in surprise fashion. Often on the red carpet, Wahlberg broke out more Air Jordan exclusives in 2015, namely the Eminem x Carhartt x Air Jordan 4s.
Lastly, we see Drake making the final three. The Jumpman endorsed entertainer had an epic 2015, running rap by way of Soundcloud singles, memes and the movie that was OVO Fest. Drizzy pulled out his share of unreleased OVO exclusives while also digging deep into the JB vault for rare retros.
See the tale of the tape for each candidate in the pages below and let us know in the voting poll who deserves to be the 2015 #CSSMVP.
Wale
Let’s face it, Wale has nothing left to prove when it comes to kicks. He has pink box SBs, he has OG Foams, and he’s had it all (and worn it all) for a long, long time.
In 2015, Wale went against the grain in more ways then one. As expected, his promo run for The Album About Nothing saw everything from “Doernbecher” Pennys to “Amsterdam” Air Maxes. Standard Wale. Conversely, it also saw Folarin stepping into slightly unfamiliar territory, rocking high end takes from Chanel and Valentino as well as retro runners from ASICS. The biggest move from Wale though was signing a partnership with retailer VILLA — a cavalier deal if their ever was one — allowing Wale to collaborate and curate with a variety of brands without being relegated to just one. With an ASICS and a Timberland collabo already under his belt, it’ll be interesting to see just what Wale and VILLA are on come 2016.
