Where to buy the New Balance 2002R "Refined Future" Pack

The New Balance 2002R “Refined Future” Pack was a huge hit for New Balance that catapulted the sneaker in 2021 and a sequel to the pack is on the way and releasing exclusively at Extra Butter ahead of its North American launch date.

“Last year, we launched the first Refined Future pack through a Y2K narrative, inspired by the era in which the 2002 originally debuted. For this year’s launch, we sought to create product storytelling that directly tied back to the design of the Refined Future Pack,” says Bernie Gross, Creative Director at Extra Butter. “The model’s signature detail is the upper panel that is seemingly cut haphazardly, which to me implied the presence of a human, handmade element. It very much reminded me of the Wabi Sabi – a Japanese philosophy embracing imperfection, impermanence, and asymmetry.”

Dropping in 3 colorways in Mirage Grey, Dark Navy, and Vintage Orange, all share a mesh base with jagged and deconstructed suede overlays as well as on the foam exposed tongue. ABZORB is utilized in the white midsoles for comfort and additional ABZORB SBS cushioning in the heel for stability with a black rubber outsole featuring a white paint cast finishing off the sneakers respectively.

Alongside the release of the “Refined Future” Pack, Extra Butter is dropping a private label collection inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi which embraces the beauty of imperfections. The collection features hand-dyed hoodies, mineral-washed t-shirts with exposed seams, wide-fit trousers, zen garden-inspired graphic printables, and headwear to go along with the sneakers.

The New Balance 2002R “Refined Future” Pack is set to drop exclusively at Extra Butter in-store and online on September 29th ahead of its North American release date. Doors will open at both Extra Butter locations at 10 AM EST with the online drop going live at 3 PM EST.
