Ronnie Fieg and the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the New Balance 998

Ronnie Fieg and New Balance continue their longstanding relationship this spring.

In partnership with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, Ronnie Fieg celebrates the legendary designer and his desired utopia with the Ronnie Fieg x Frank Lloyd Wright x New Balance 998 “Broadcare City Capsule” in two colorways.

The collaborative New Balance 998, which aligns with the 30th anniversary of the silhouette, draws from Frank Lloyd Wright and his renowned Broadacre City concept.

Broadacre City isn’t a city at all, but a reimagining of how we could organize ourselves outside of dense urban environments; opting to live at a smaller scale among farms and forests, connecting with the land and with each other.

Broadacre was Wright’s way to address inequality, to distribute and use resources fairly, and to be gentler on the Earth.

These kind of forward thinking ideas are what we need in today’s society more than ever.

Fieg dresses the early 80’s running shoe in an array of colors, with both sneakers featuring a white midsole and white New Balance “N” logo. While the entire sneaker is covered in suede, the different panels are comprised of various shades with the standouts being salmon, light blue, brick red, and yellow — dedicated to FLW’s designs and their environment, such as Talisein West located in Arizona. The color palette is the perfect way to reimagine the crazy neons and flashy prints that dominated the 80s, when the NB 998 first debuted.

The Ronnie Fieg x Frank Lloyd Wright x New Balance 998 “Broadcare City Capsule” releases on April 14, 2023, at Kith Tokyo and at Taliesin West hosted by the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation on April 15, 2023, in Scottsdale, Arizona. The collection will release at Kith.com and all Kith locations on April 17, 2023.
